ARLINGTON

PHOENIX SONG

CITY: Arlington

TRADITION OR SPIRITUAL PATH: Initiatory religious witchcraft

CONTACT NAME: Jenett

EMAIL: phoenixsong@gleewood.org

WEBSITE: PHOENIX SONG

Phoenix Song is a small coven in the Omphalos-Tri-Cellan tradition established in Minnesota in the late 1990s. After several moves, Jenett (the High Priestess) has ended up back in the Boston area, where she grew up.

We focus on:

  • Work with and service of our Gods (both communal and personal) in polytheistic practice.

  • Patterns and cycles that lead to understanding and self-transformation.

  • Music, rhythm, and movement in ritual and personal practice.

  • Development of ourselves as competent and well-rounded witches and priests/priestesses including a development of personal practice in daily life.

Our tradition has a three-degree initiatory system as well as tradition-specific practices and mysteries, but much of our practice is similar to common Wiccan practice - we work in a ritual circle, celebrate the Esbats and Sabbats, and so on.

We gather for ritual, for discussion, for music and other creative arts, for crafts, and for good food and drink. Our ritual work is often reflective and introspective (divination, guided meditation, and interaction with deity are common) but we also do magical work together at times.

We value ongoing connections and relationships, mature commitment to religious practice, clear communication, and a willingness to learn new things. We have an ethic of intentional simplicity and at looking at how we do things as well as why.

Jenett is also glad to connect and chat with people in the area looking for resources or additional information, and maintains an extensive website of additional information about religious witchcraft, Seeking, at http://gleewood.org/seeking.

HOUSE OF CROWN & HERMIT / CASA DE LA CORONA Y EL ERMITANO

CITY: Boston

TRADITION OR SPIRITUAL PATH: Mexican folk practices

CONTACT NAME: Amadeus

EMAIL: crownhermitco@gmail.com

UPDATED: 9/3/2024

Hola, ¿qué onda?, we are House of the Crown & Hermit/Casa de la Corona y el Ermitano. We are a house of mixed folk practices from Mexico that are open to other practices of the Americas. We are new and looking for members. It is not a requirement to speak a Latin-based language or an Indigenous language, although it is recommended that you learn some to understand better. You do not have to come from a similar ethnic, racial and cultural background. We practice primarily Mexican folk practices such as curanderismo, hechiceria y brujeria (de magia blanca) until other cultures present themselves. We follow the Major Holidays of Mexico, which are Indigenous and Catholic celebrations, such as feast days and the Precolumbian celebration of Mesoamerica. We work with the Teotl, La Virgen y Los Angeles, saints (folk & catholic), ancestor veneration, and the earth and its elements.

Our values:

  • Balance of the preservation of our practice in modern society

  • Build stability in your spiritual life and experience

  • Maintain unity, justice, dignity, respect and tolerance

  • Collective and individual work, accountability, and responsibility

  • To build purpose and faith in yourself and a higher self

  • Protection and prevention of all possible harm

  • Creating a bond and relationship with your ancestors, the spiritual world, and nature

Our tradition is as old and mixed as our identity, which is more than 500 years old, compared to modern and popular practices like neo-paganism and Wicca, which are roughly older than 80 years old. Our lineage has the structure of the religion of Catholicism and pre-Columbian Native American traditions with elements of spiritism. We do not initiate or have degrees; this is a practice passed down that you commit to yourself, your community, and your spirits. Our casa is led by Don Amadeus, who comes from a family of curanderos and practitioners of brujeria y hechiceria blanca (benevolent sorcery and witchcraft). We meet for one holiday a month and twice a month to honor the spirits we work with, along with a ceremony during a full moon and new moon, during which we also teach our mentees.

CORON NADROEDD COVEN AND OUTER COURT

CITY: Malden

TRADITION OR SPIRITUAL PATH: Celtic Traditionalist Gwyddonaid

CONTACT NAME: Linda

UPDATED: 10/4/2021

Bendith mae! Coron Nadroedd Coven is lead by Rev. High Priestess Lady Faolan who is a HPS in the CTG and Welsh Trad and her husband Rev. HP Lord Corvid.

We are proud to teach and carry on our Tradition to seekers on the celtic path. We are a non-discriminating coven of the Celtic Traditionalist Gwyddonaid. We are a Family tradition that follows the core teachings of Lady Gwen. The Celtic Traditionalist Gwyddonaid (CTG) is a tradition which stems from the hereditary family lore of Lady Gwen (Gwynne) Thompson (1928-1986) and subsequent research and writings of Edmund M. Buczynski (Lord Gwydion) (1947-1989), founder of the Brooklyn Heights Coven with Lady Vivienne.

The Celtic Traditionalist Gwyddonaid is based upon two textual sources. The first source is the Book of Shadows and other teachings of the New York Welsh Traditionalist Gwyddonaid (NYWTG or "Welsh Tradition") , as founded by Lord Gwydion. The Welsh Tradition was not and is not acknowledged as a member of the New England Covens of Traditionalist Witches (NECTW) family of traditions. The essential form or outline of the CTG Book of Shadows is that which derived from the reorganization of the Welsh Tradition materials by Lord Taliesin. By 1986, Taliesin had, with the help of Welsh Tradition Elders in the New York City area, reorganized the Welsh Tradition book into its current, widely disseminated form. As is traditional, no materials were removed from the book as received by Taliesin; rather, an attempt was made to logically organize the material to better suit both teacher and student. The second source is the Book of Shadows and other teachings of the Welsh Rite Traditionalist Gwyddonaid (WRTG) , as founded by Lord Gwion. Lord Gwion commingled the Welsh Tradition materials (as received from both Lady Vivienne and Taliesin) and the NECTW materials, the latter which were made made available to him susbequent to his initiation and elevation in that line. This commingling led to the founding of the WRTG. The WRTG line is accepted by the NECTW family of Traditions. These two sources, and our beloved ancestors of the blood, Lady Gwen and Lord Gwydion, are the cherished life's blood of the CTG, for it is by the Goddess' and Gods' hands we are guided and continue to thrive.

Guided by the Gods, we have brought the bloodlines fully together. We vow to ever reveal the mysteries, but we also remember that those who cannot put the Gods before their own prejudices are but the onceborn masquerading as the wise. Learn and teach of true love and compassion and laughter; learn and teach too of darkness and death and rebirth, for it is only through this balance that we may serve the path of light truly. Coron Nadroedd Coven formed our grove at Summer Solstice 2006 and are a fully functioning coven. Our mythology mainly stems from the Mabinogian and other welsh tales. We are a FAMILY and treat each other as such. We are accepting new students, with at least two years of Craft experience, basic knowledge, etc..

Sincere Seekers only.. Y gwyr yn erbyn y byd! Blessed Be!!

If You have any questions about our tradition. Please feel free contact us.

UPDATED: 9/6/2023

Sacred Grove of Somerville, MA is a newly forming group based on Celtic Wicca. We are seeking those both interested in joining and those interested in taking a leadership position. Here are some goals for this group:

1. I want this grove to be open to anyone interested in joining. What I mean by this is that this group will not be denied entry based on gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, race, and other typical discrimination topics.

2. I want this group to be as non-hierarchical as possible. I do understand the need to have leadership, but I do not see the need for tiered degrees and privileges based on what degree you hold in the group.

3. I want the leadership of the group to be volunteer-based with a council of three to five members serving at a time. We can hold elections annually or as often as needed. It is important to have a set leadership so that the group does not go dormant.

Note: Unfortunately, we will not have minors in the group unless their parent(s) are also a member. I would encourage anyone under the age of eighteen to seek out like-minded people of their own age at their schools.

BIRCH AND MAPLE COVEN & GROVE

CITY: Winchester

TRADITION OR SPIRITUAL PATH: Blue Star Wicca

CONTACT NAME: Raven

UPDATED: 8/21/2023

Birch and Maple is a Blue Star coven and grove in Winchester, MA. We are focused on the teachings of Blue Star Wicca and the worship of the Old Gods. Our Tradition is very similar to that of other British Traditional Wiccan groups. We have a highly structured elevation path that focuses on personal growth, learning, and development. This branch of the Wiccan tree acknowledges all genders and orientations. We believe in jobs not genders, and recognize the fact that magic and witchcraft is for the marginalized. We have female Priests, non-binary Priestx, and trans folk as well as aromantic and asexual folk amongst us as well as many other members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
